Job Description

Urgent requirement for a Junior IT Support Engineer/Desktop Engineer in the Tiptree, Essex area working for us, at JobServe and the wider Aspire Media Group.
Basic Salary: £20K to £25K DOE based on 40 Hour week
Overtime: Weekday and weekend overtime may be required
Location: On-site role based in Tiptree, Colchester, with travel to local locations
Driver's Licence: A valid UK driving licence is required for local travel

Job Summary

AMG Technology is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Desktop/IT Support Engineer to join our IT Technical Services team, supporting our group of local and global companies, including key organisations such as JobServe Ltd and Colchester United Football Club. As a Junior Support Engineer, you will assist in providing technical support for desktop computers, applications, and IT systems. The role may require you to provide IT support at various local locations, including on match days at JobServe Community Stadium during evenings or weekends.

We are looking for a self-starter with a strong ability to take initiative, research, and investigate solutions independently to solve technical problems. Working under the guidance of senior team members, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless desktop operations within established industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their IT career looking to build exposure to a wide range of technologies and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Assist with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Problem Resolution: Collaborate with vendors and senior team members to resolve technical issues.
  • System Integration: Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems, including validation, file servers, email, and application servers.
  • Training & Orientation: Support staff training on hardware and software usage.
  • System Maintenance: Assist in system upgrades, patch management, antivirus management, and preventive maintenance.
  • Procurement Assistance: Help assess functional needs for hardware and software purchases.
  • Documentation & Inventory: Maintain licences, hardware/software inventory, and IT documentation.
  • Project Support: Assist on technology projects by completing assigned tasks on time.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in an IT support or similar role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Microsoft technologies, including Office 365, on-premise and cloud environments, and Active Directory.
  • Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities, with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and rotational schedules for football match support and holiday cover.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to handle organisational information securely.
  • Adaptability: Willing to travel domestically to support our company group for short periods as needed. Must have a valid drivers licence.
